Install a State-of-the-Art CCTV System
Place video surveillance security cameras in strategic locations, such as common areas, stairways, parking lots, playgrounds and cafeterias.
Patrol High-Risk Areas Regularly
If you have trouble or blind spots, make it a point to have campus security or school personnel patrol those areas more frequently.
Install Silent Alarms and/or Panic Buttons
Place these throughout the school and be sure to communicate their locations to all staff and students.
Two-Way Communication & Lockdown Solutions
Ensure that all classrooms have reliable two-way communication with the main office at all times and a lockdown system and procedure in place. “Practice” your lockdown procedure every month.
Control Building Access
Closely monitor school visitors, preferably, allowing them in only one entrance. Also, have in place an Access Control system for all exterior entrances and even areas within the school.
