Secure the Doors

Inspect all of your exterior doors to make sure the door frames are strong, the hinges are protected, and that someone can’t reach through the mail slot to unlock the door. If moving into a previously live-in space, always replace all of the locks. Reinforce any sliding glass doors. You can go simple and use a window bar or dowel in the track to keep the door from being forced open. If you want a high-tech solution, add a door sensor or glass break detector to alert you if the glass door is tampered with.
Lock the Windows
Doors and windows are the most common entry points for burglars. You can upgrade window security with locks or key-operated levers. But you don’t have to stop there.
